an Unwrapped moment, a day late

I keep up with quite a few blogs, and the list is over-growing (and my time is ever-shrinking). I tend to be more of a lurker than a commenter (bad blog etiquette, I know), and I need to start doing better. Emily at Chatting at the Sky is encouraging us to take a moment to slow down and appreciate the little things with her Tuesdays Unwrapped series.

I love this idea, because I have been trying to remind myself to do just that. Instead of long, reflective journal entries, my "moments" are taking the form of scribbled observations on sticky notes that are accumulating in The Pile That Ate My Desk. Someday, those moments will be translated to long, reflective journal entries. Maybe.

Here's my moment for this week: my son did not want to get dressed. He's five. He had the tantrum of a two-year-old (gotta love those). My husband sent him to time-out. A few minutes later, as he was calming down, I saw my two-year-old daughter go over to him. She gave him a big hug as he whimpered on the time-out chair. And I heard her say to him, "It's o.k., buddy. Say sorry to Daddy. And get dressed." It was so sweet to see her compassion for her brother, and so funny to see her try to help us out too. Just a little thing, but those are the "little things" that I want to remember.

In typical overextended mom fashion, I'm posting this Unwrapped Tuesday moment on Wednesday. Sigh.

Let's Juggle

Ok, so I'm not getting off to a roaring start with this blog thing. I have lots of ideas, but the time to implement them keeps escaping me.

I'm doing some blogging for work, too, so I get ideas for posts there, ideas for posts here, and they get all sort of jumbled. Obviously, I need to nail down a system.

But what I'm wondering is how you seasoned bloggers find the time to do it all. How much time are actually spending writing, how much time reading other blogs, etc.? I guess that will be a rhetorical question for now, considering my somewhat staggering lack of readership at this time, but someday (somehow?) I'll get some answers.

blank stares at blank pages

So everyone's blogging. I've been toying with the blog thing, but having a hard time coming up with what to blog about. You know, that "niche" thing they said you should have. There are the mommy bloggers, the marketing bloggers, the business bloggers. I love to read them, but I'm not really sure where I'll fit in. I did a little blogging so I could correspond with the decorating/design bloggers, but I wanted a broader topic area than just that; there are so many great ideas out there that I couldn't come up with enough of my own to fill up a blog.

I write for work, but I thought this could be writing for fun. I figure jumping in is the best (only?) way to start.
